The international project VIAGGIO DA TOPOLO AD ABITANTI is a five part work of art: the book, the film, the archival research, the photo exhibition and the sonorous composition “The river never to be seen.
“ The river never to be seen” is the virtual musical journey across the map, through names of towns, settlements and villages lying on a straight line drawn in pencil from Topolovo to Abitanti. The forceful emotional charge of the music work is born from the exchange of emotional patterns, patterns which originated from the same roots, were transfigured by spatial and temporal distance, and are now again brought together through means of art
The journey is enriched with the sounds of airplanes, trains, horse carts, motorcycles, bikes and various sounds associated with movement. The means of transport are used as musical glue between particular words – compositions.
The journey ends with a knock on the door.
Upon arriving to Abitanti, not a virtual but a real visit, the artist knocks on all the doors in the village.
The doors remain closed.
The knocking, growing increasingly restless and desperate, a symbol of searching for life and living creatures in the town transforms into a powerful rhytmical composition, which concludes the journey.
The emotional, spirited, music-filled journey, a journey in expectation of happy meeting and kind welcome ends clouded with trouble.
The knocking on empty doors resounds into emptiness.
The village is not inhabited.
There is no meeting.
